OVW Announces New Principal Deputy Director

Dear OVW Colleagues:

It has been my great honor to have been able to lead the work of the Office on Violence Against (OVW) Women, and now it is my honor to pass the helm of OVW to our new Principal Deputy Director, The Honorable Katharine (Katie) Sullivan.

Katie joins OVW after serving on the bench for the last 11 years in the 5th Judicial District County Court, Eagle County, Colorado.

During her judicial tenure, Judge Sullivan presided over 45,000 criminal and civil cases, including multiple domestic violence sentencings and jury trials.  She also worked with victims advocates, victim representatives, law enforcement and court staff to develop procedures and policies to ensure victim’s rights in her courtroom. In 2016 she was awarded 5th Judicial District Judge of the Year.

Prior to becoming a Judge, Katie served as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s 9thJudicial District where she prosecuted many cases involving domestic violence.  She also served as the District Attorney representative on a community based collaborative domestic violence task force.

She has brought with her enormous enthusiasm and energy for energy.  Please join the me in welcoming her to our partnership as we continue the important work of ending sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

Please also accept my heartfelt thanks for all of your support over the last year.  I have said it before, but I don’t think it can be said too often.  Without your work, we could not do what we are so fortunate to be able to do every day.

Sincerely,

Nadine M. Neufville
