Formula New Grantee Orientation – 2021
You have probably already received this update but we wanted to make sure that you had the latest update from Amy Loder with OVW. Read below for the email information that she sent out today around 11:00am EST.
Good morning.
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and well.
As you know, OWV was scheduled to host the first Formula New Grantee Orientation (NGO) in March 2020. The meeting was postponed due to COVID. We decided to hold the meeting virtually in 2021. Below is some pertinent information regarding the NGO.
When will the meeting take place? The meeting will take place over a period of four weeks from February 15 – March 12, 2021. Please mark your calendars.
Do I have to sit in a virtual meeting for 8 hours/day, 5 days a week? No. Content will be provided Tuesday – Thursday. No more than three hours of content will be provided each day. There will be joint sessions and breakout sessions for the specific roles (SAA or Coalition Director).
What time of day will the sessions take place? All sessions will be live. In an attempt to accommodate everyone in many different time zones, all sessions will take place either mid-afternoon or early evening, Eastern Time. We will distribute the agenda well-in-advance of the NGO so participants may plan accordingly.
Who is required to attend? All individuals who have been in their current role for four years or less are required to attend the NGO. Additionally, all individuals who were required to attend the in-person NGO in 2020 are required to attend the virtual NGO in 2021. Finally, all coalitions that act as a pass-through entity are required to attend. Attending the NGO is a requirement of your Coalition, SASP and STOP awards. Individuals who are required to attend will be contacted by OVW. We will be tracking attendance.
Do I need to attend if I have attended other OVW NGOs (discretionary program or TA)? Yes. The Formula NGO is designed specifically for the formula programs. There will be a small amount of information that is also covered in other NGOs, but the vast majority of the content is new and specifically tailored to your role as a SAA, Coalition Director, and pass-through entity.
Since the NGO is virtual may others from my organization attend? Yes. We are able to accommodate more participants because the NGO will be held virtually. We encourage you to have multiple individuals from your organization attend all or parts of the NGO. For example, you may want to include your financial staff to participate in the GFMD sessions. If you are an Administrator with several Program Staff, you may want to have them participate in all of the sessions relevant to SAAs.
How do I get information about the NGO? Leidos, the contracted company supporting OVW with logistical aspects, will be sending out registration and related information in the next several months.
I thank you all for your patience as we figured out the NGO during COVID. I do think the virtual NGO will be a success and I am happy that we will be able to open it up to additional individuals.
Please contact your Program Manager if you have any questions.
Best,
Amy
